“But first check the water” offers a deeper look into the history of Prishtina, focusing primarily on the city’s Red Cross heritage building. Based on an artistic intervention at the site by Nurhan Qehaja on September 30, 2020, the book explores the building’s historical, cultural and architectural significance within the city’s urban context. In addition to Qehaja’s artistic intervention, the book also draws on field research and local residents’ stories to engage with questions that arise from the Red Cross building.
