The Marketplace of Art

Karel Teige’s “The Marketplace of Art” is now available in its first English translation. Originally published in Czech in 1936, the work is presented by RabRab Press in two volumes and includes a critical introduction and extensive commentaries from a wide range of contributors. Edited and introduced by Sezgin Boynik and Joseph Grim Feinberg, “The Marketplace of Art” is a response to the capitulation of art to fascist and Stalinist currents, written in the context of a rising conservative right-wing culture and during intense debates between avant-garde artists and the Communist Party.

Authors: Karel Teige, Zbyněk Baladrán, Dave Beech, Jana Ndiaye Berankova, Michel Chevalier, Esther Leslie, John Roberts, Paul Wood, František Dryje, Tomáš Hříbek, Rea Michalová, Šimon Svěrák and Roman Telerovský.
